Today, we visited a patient in the hospital during our PPC (Physician and Patient Communication) course. The patient we saw was in the hospital for Leukemia. He was 46 years old I believe and was in the hospital for complications due to his Chemo. This was a sad interview because I was reminded of my little brother (who passed away from Leukemia) but also an inspirational one because the patient seemed very positive in spite of his illness.
I left seeing the patient with a renewed passion for medicine and for helping others. I see that it will be days like this that will keep me going in the long run!!
